From financial intelligence to AI-powered workflows
Bernard Leong founded Pexalo after more than 15 years across capital investment, financial modelling, data analytics, senior business analysis and business process design. That work consistently came back to the same thing: using data to solve complex problems, improve decision-making and redesign workflows that were not serving the people using them.
His applied AI experience began in 2019, helping build an early AI recruitment platform for developer hiring, using language models and data from more than 60,000 engineers. At Pexalo he combines that analytical background with AI agents and workflow automation, turning fragmented business data into actionable intelligence, reducing manual work and creating simpler ways of working.
Bernard worked across senior business analysis, investment analysis, data analytics and financial modelling, using financial and operational data to evaluate investment opportunities and support major decisions on large infrastructure and operational projects. The work was never only about the numbers. It meant diagnosing why a process underperformed, redesigning the workflow around it, and giving teams a clearer basis for the decisions they had to make.
Bernard helped build an early AI recruitment platform that assessed developer capability directly, rather than relying on traditional CV screening. It combined language models with structured performance data from a database of more than 60,000 engineers to evaluate skills and improve matching. This was where the analytical work met applied AI, and where the value of structured data over stated credentials became clear.
At Pexalo, Bernard brings together business analysis, financial modelling, data and applied AI to design agents and workflows around real operational problems. The focus is turning fragmented business data into structured signals, reducing manual work and improving operational visibility. The method is the same one he has used throughout: understand the process first, then decide what technology genuinely helps.

Charles Chow is a seasoned finance professional with over 20 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, and equity research, having held key roles at JP Morgan Chase and DBS Vickers.
A chartered accountant and graduate of the University of Auckland and the London School of Economics, he currently advises a family office on portfolio strategy and teaches part time at the University of Auckland.
His experience across financial analysis, investment evaluation, and strategic decision making brings valuable commercial and capital allocation insight to the Pexalo business-focused AI approach.
Peter Devine is an AI engineer and PhD graduate from the University of Auckland, where he specialised in natural language processing for software feedback analysis.
His research focused on training and evaluating Transformer-based models to understand user intent and generate actionable insights for developers.
He has also conducted applied AI research in source code search and software industry diversity, bringing strong technical and research expertise to the Pexalo AI systems and implementation strategy.
